Painted Saints by Lucy Embury

Painted Saints is a delightfully charming tale of a young orphan boy, Marcel, who is taken in by a kindly older priest, Father Serrano. Fr. Serrano teaches Marcel how to be a young Catholic gentleman and shares his special skill with Marcel. Fr. Serrano makes small clay statues of the saints, which he paints with meticulous care.

The story takes the reader through the formative years of Marcel's life, set against the backdrop of the city of Marseilles. The book brings the city to life, painting clear pictures of the people, places, and sites of a time gone by,  while encouraging virtue, duty, and a healthy desire for adventure in the hearts of the young!

A great addition to your home library or a thoughtful gift for the the young people in your life!
